सूचना प्रसारण मंत्रालय ने मंत्री अनुराग ठाकुर ने राज्यसभा में एक प्रश्न का जवाब देते हुए कहा कि 2022 में अब तक भारत में कुल 84 ऑनलाइन न्यूज चैनलों को बैन किया गया है। उन्होंने बताया कि भारत के खिलाफ गलत सूचना देने वाले ऐसे चैनलों पर आगे भी कार्रवाई जारी रहेगी। अनुराग ने बताया कि 23 वेबसाइटों को भी बैन किया गया है।
केंद्रीय मंत्री ने राज्यसभा में बताया कि वर्ष 2021 में 20 ऑनलाइन चैनलों और 2 वेबसाइटों को प्रतिबंधित किया गया था। बतात चलें कि सरकार ने इसी साल सितंबर में 10 यूट्यूब चैनलों के 45 वीडियो को ब्लॉक करने का आदेश भी जारी किया था। केंद्र सरकार ने बताया कि ये चैनल अपने प्लेटफॉर्म से गलत सूचनाएं फैला रहे थे जिसके बाद इन्हें बैन करने का फैसला लिया गया। अगस्त में भी 9 यूट्यूब चैनल पर कार्रवाई की गई थी।
